Highlighting the pinnacle of development within each facet of cycling, Shimano has been selected as the winner of the EUROBIKE Award 2023 in the E-Bikes category for its AUTO SHIFT and FREE SHIFT technology
Giving you the freedom to focus on the trail ahead, Shimano is pleased to announce that its AUTO SHIFT and FREE SHIFT technology has been awarded the EUROBIKE 2023 Award in the E-Bikes category.
AUTO SHIFT combined with FREE SHIFT is a novel shifting mode for E-Bikes. By utilizing intelligent sensors and algorithms, AUTO SHIFT can anticipate when to shift to the optimal gear based on changes in terrain and riding conditions. This means you can shift gears without having to click a lever.
FREE SHIFT provides riders with the ability to shift gears without pedaling. This breakthrough technology enables shifting – either manually or automatically by a compatible EP801 or EP6 drive unit and DEORE XT Di2 drivetrain – when coasting to ensure you’re in the right gear when you resume pedaling.
Winners of the EUROBIKE Award were selected from a pool of participants that submitted their best products and innovations, which are then put before a jury of experts. The award will be handed to Shimano during an official ceremony at EUROBIKE on June 21, starting at 17:30 – during which the Gold Award winners will be announced.
