Briq-XL from Busch+Müller:Advancing into a new dimension – with a digital curve light

Anyone who switches on the Briq-XL from Busch+Müller for the first time will be witness to a new dimension of bicycle light, experiencing a beam-pattern that outshines anything that has gone before it.

A perfect bicycle headlight – in theory – would have a uniformly and brightly illuminated track with a perfect horizontal cut-off line. Briq-XL is the decisive technological leap that comes closer to such an ideal light distribution than any other headlight to date. This effect is achieved by combining a large, polyhedral reflector and designated LED segments with state-of-the-art electronics.

The lux factor? 150 – and this not just at the brightest point, but almost everywhere in the unrivalled wide, broad and uniform beam-pattern stretching to a crystal-clear cut-off line. Of course, it would be possible to focus and merge the light of the headlight into a tight bundle, like a laser pointer, and then lay claim to an incredible 100,000 lux light output. However, a laser pointer is useless when riding a bike at night. This adds more to proof that the quality of a beam pattern generated by the Briq-XL (or any other light for that matter) cannot be summarised in terms of traditional numerical values. The human eye no longer sees a bicycle light in the carpet of light filled with up to 8,000 lumens but, instead, looks into the day – when the cyclist is actually riding in the dark.

The first steering movement reveal next wonder, showing an adaptive beam-pattern. The headlight will react to the lean of the handlebar activating a digital curve light function in a progressive sequence to provide a magnificent illumination of the bend while riding the curve. Simultaneously, the light on the far side of the curve will be lowered, maintaining a dipped beam to prevent the dazzle of oncoming traffic. The Briq-XL automatically illuminates the bend as amazingly as the straight track moments before.

Superior lighting comfort: One press of the handlebar button on the Briq-XL activates an enormously strong and wide high beam function. Three light openings on the left and right set striking design accents and ensure optimum lateral visibility. The headlight is mounted on the handlebars by means of an extremely robust, single-arm metal bracket. Alternatively, this bracket can be latched onto the headlight at a 180° angle, allowing for either upright assembly or suspended underneath the handlebars.

Enter the final show-stopper of the new flagship: an app coupled to the headlight via Bluetooth opens up countless possibilities for controlling the light of the Briq-XL. Pre-set modes such as City, Road or Offroad are adapted to different conditions, and features such as low beam/high beam progression, daytime running light, light width and range can be individually programmed under “My Mode”.
